ROAM

Here now, I roam this earth alone.

Oaks cast over my shoulder and bear witness to those who tread before me. The sun is my only friend until the close of day, when the night welcomes a cold that frightens me. The coat I wear gives me the only warmth I know.

A sullen coo stirs my ears and yet silence’s fragrant stillness calms the faintest wisps. And so silence recedes along its barren shore to beg back those cackles of wave breaks.

I tread the stones beneath my steps and gaze at stars who tell me the stories of lives too far away. And I howl to the moon, but she is not my savior.

Here now, I roam the earth alone.
